French Serti Technique
First, the silk is washed and ironed in preparation for painting. Anne stretches white silk on a frame, and draws a resist line with gutta, often a continuous line and rarely preplanned unless it is a specific commissioned piece. Once the drawing is completed, special paint for silk is applied with watercolour brushes. Sometimes gutta is applied after painting or not at all. Once paintings are completed the color is set using steam.
